Diploma in Translation and Interpretation (English and Urdu)

 


Course Objective:


To enable trainees to understand the roles of an Interpreter/ Translator and acquire the relevant job skills, as well as, to enhance confidence and professionalism of trainees so that they can meet the job requirements and secure an employment as an Interpreter/ Translator.

 


Course Content:


This course will be conducted in English and is suitable for non-Chinese speaking eligible employees in Hong Kong who are unemployed or non-engaged. The course will introduce contextualized English & Urdu, intercultural communication, translating and interpreting between Urdu and English, professional ethics, rudiments of interpreting, translating imperative sentences, proper nouns, graphs and tables, and generic skills including communication skills, job search skills, etc.

 


Entry Requirements:



  1. Possess English and Urdu literacy skills;

  2. Completion of Form 6 or above; or equivalent;

  3. Pass the oral and written entry test; and

  4. Demonstrate inclination for employment at the admission interview.

 


Course Duration:


280 hours (approximately 14 weeks)
