Healthcare Massage Integrated Service (HMIS)

"Healthcare Massage Integrated Service" ("HMIS") is a one-stop referral service which the ERB provides for graduate trainees of the Healthcare Massage Courses. The current areas of service of "HMIS" include:

• Home-based Massage Service


• "3R Zone" Massage Shop


• Service Programme at estates' clubhouses


• Promotion Programme at business and trade organizations

Professional Training and Quality Assurance

• To meet the demand of Hong Kong people for professional and reliable massage services, the ERB has launched standardized Healthcare Massage retraining courses for those who seek to enter the profession.


• The Board has also invited professional massage therapists, veteran Chinese medicine practitioners, professors of Chinese medicine institutes, employers in the massage profession, etc. to form the "Healthcare Massage and Foot Reflexology Advisory Team" which assists in the planning of specialist training to provide the trade with formally-trained masseurs.


• The ERB graduate trainees should have passed a standardized skill assessment and obtain certification in theory and practice before completing the aforesaid courses.


• The professional training course covers areas such as Theory of Foot Reflexology, Reflex Zones, Practice of Foot Reflexology as well as Head to Shoulders Massage, Contraindications to Massage and Manipulation, Basic Theory of Chinese Medicine, Structure of the Human Body and Customer Service, etc.
