Employees Retraining Board

Training cum Employment Resource Centre

Located at Cheung Sha Wan, the “ERB Training cum Employment Resource Centre”, with a total floor area of approximately 11,000 square feet, is the first service centre in the territory having integrated both training and employment services. The Centre aims to offer just-in-time and diversified training and employment services to those aged 15 or above, with education attainment of sub-degree or below, and with training and/or employment needs; and also serves as a recruitment platform for employers.

The public can enquire and enrol for ERB courses, and attend regular talks on introduction to different industries and courses at the Centre. Members can enhance their generic skills and job searching techniques by attending the regular workshops with diversified categories, such as workplace Putonghua or English, computer applications, personal development, interview techniques, and workplace communication skills. Different self-learning and reference materials are also available at the multi-media and reading corners of the Centre for self-enhancement and upgrading.

Job seekers can have access to job vacancies through job cards and Vacancy Search Terminals that have been connected to the job database of Labour Department, at the Centre. A full range of office equipment and facilities such as computers, telephones, resume templates, facsimile machines and printers are also available for job seekers to prepare resumes and contact prospective employers. To facilitate and better prepare members for job seeking, the Centre offers employment information as well as career guidance, career counseling and job referral services. Job fairs, employment exhibitions and mutual support groups’ service are also organized regularly. In addition, various types of support groups have been set up in the Centre, where members with similar background can build up mutual assistance and support network. These support groups also serve as platforms for market information and experience exchange among job seekers.

The Centre also provides case management service by professional officers to job seekers who have been found with genuine training and/or employment needs after assessment. The assessment is conducted via a set of specially designed “assessment tools”, so as to understand and analyze job seekers’ career aspirations and their training and/or employment needs for providing appropriate guidance and continuous follow-up service. Career planning service is also offered to assist members to build up a positive view of life and have a better picture about their future.

The “One World Corner” is dedicated to suit the specific training and employment needs of different social groups including new arrivals and ethnic minorities. Provision of suitable job vacancies, Cantonese language training, referral of ERB courses and other specific services are also available for them. Support groups for specific social groups are set up, which serve as platforms for information exchange and mutual support.

To enhance the support to all members especially to those with difficulties in searching jobs, the Centre coordinates with relevant governmental departments, non-government organizations and employers of the district for building up a regional partnership network. Last but not the least, free recruitment and referral services and related information are provided to employers, especially small-medium enterprises within the region.
