Employees Retraining Board - Main Courses
The Employees Retraining Board offers a variety of full-time, half-day and evening retraining courses. The major retraining courses are listed below.
Security and Property Management Retraining Courses
Pertaining to the needs of commercial and residential complexes, this retraining course enables the retrainee to acquire the fundamental practical skills in Security and Property Management, alongside with the knowledge and attitudes required for the position, thereby increasing the employability of the retrainee within relevant trades. The course has incorporated the basic security training course recognized by the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority (SGSIA). A retrainee who has successfully completed this recognized course, passed its relevant examination and is able to produce a valid certificate can be exempted from the 16-hour basic training on being employed by a security company.
Domestic Helper Training Course
Through standardized training, this course aims to equip retrainees with the knowledge, practical skills and competence in household cleansing and daily household matters. By reinforcing the skills and confidence of retrainees, the course helps retrainees build up their professional image as a domestic helper and enhance their quality of work. Comprehensive training on job-related knowledge and skills are covered in the course, thereby allowing graduates higher chances of getting employed.
In view of the considerable potential of the local domestic helper market, the Employees Retraining Board has, in recent years, devoted its effort to implement the Integrated Scheme for Local Domestic Helpers in order to expand the market for local domestic helpers and to explore more employment opportunities for graduates of the course.
Graduates from the course are eligible to attend the standardized practical assessment and would be awarded Competence Cards upon passing.
Post-natal Care Worker Retraining Course
This course trains up the retrainees in the knowledge and practical skills regarding pre-natal cum post-natal care and the caring of new born babies, thereby enhancing their competency level and confidence as a post-natal care worker. By polishing the skills of retrainees and upgrading their quality of work, this course helps to build up the professional image of retrainees and develop their independence in handling the work.
Personal Care Worker Retraining Course
By means of lectures on theories, demonstration and practice, this course educates retrainees on the knowledge and practical skills required as a personal care worker. It faciltates retrainees to fulfill the basic entry requirements for working as a personal care worker in elderly care homes and institutions, thereby enhancing their employability within the related work fields.
Massage for Healthcare Retraining Course
This course enables the retrainee to learn and master the fundamental skills of healthcare massage and foot reflexology, including basic anatomy and physiology, fundamentals of acupoints and meridians, traditional Chinese medical theory, principles of reflexology, massage manipulative techniques, safety concerns and taboos in massage, etc. Retrainees will also be introduced to the culture and practice of the industry, thereby allowing them a thorough understanding of the job requirement including customer service and massage techniques. Upon successful completion of the course, retrainees would have gained basic knowledge and skills for paving a career in massage-related work.
