Services for Employers

Apart from the provision of training, the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) also assists full-time graduate trainees to seek for job opportunities through the placement service units of relevant training bodies offering the courses. These placement service units of training bodies, as coordinated by the Placement Services Section of the ERB, will normally provide a 3-month post-training follow-up and support services including job counselling and job referral assistance to their trainees.

The Employees Retraining Scheme (ERS) is featured by its placement-tied and employment-oriented approach in the provision of training and employment assistance. As such, the support of employers in recruiting suitable graduate retrainees is crucial to the success of the ERS. As employers, you are welcome to make good use of the free recruitment service of the ERB to meet your manpower requirements.

You can simply complete the Vacancy Registration Form and return it to the ERB or the placement service units of training bodies, then you are entitled to access the recruitment service offered by the ERB and its training bodies. Upon registration, the placement officers concerned will try their very best to match suitable trainees in accordance with your specified job requirements.

To facilitate effective job matching, the ERB has developed a dedicated computer networking system which allows for efficient exchange of vacancy information between job-seeking trainees and prospective employers. The ERB’s computer network has also linked up with that of the Job Centres of the Labour Department since 2001 so that job vacancies information is communicated to each other in a speedy manner.

The ERB is pleased to offer Tailor-made Programmes for individual employers at NO COST. These programmes are highly flexible and tailored to meet the specific requirements of eligible companies.

Employers and groups of employers with 15 or more vacancies who are experiencing difficulty in recruiting staff in certain job types can apply for assistance from the ERB. The Tailor-made Programme is jointly organised by the ERB, the employer and the relevant Training Body.

• Representatives from the ERB and an appointed Training Body will interview the employer to better understand their specific requirements for retrainees;
• The Training Body prepares a course proposal tailored to the employer's needs;
• The proposal is then submitted to ERB for approval;
• When the proposal is approved, the employer can be involved in the selection of retrainees to ensure that those people enrolled will meet their requirements; and
• Intensive follow-up service will be provided to the retrainees.

Besides offering retraining and placement services to employers and employees, ERB also provides services to those employers who need to retrench large number of employees.

Again, our Outplacement Programme is highly flexible to tailor-make induction programme or job search skill course to assist the affected workers. Employers can participate in the design of the programme with ERB and our Training Bodies.
