“ERB Manpower Developer Award Scheme” Seminar Series - “Incorporating CSR in Manpower Training and Development” Event Highlights

A MD Seminar on “Incorporating CSR in Manpower Training and Development” organised by the ERB was held on 7 October 2013 with over 250 enrolments of HR and Training professionals from some 140 organisations received.

The Seminar was chaired by Professor Dennis FAN, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies), Faculty of Business Administration, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Representatives of three “Manpower Developers” - BannerSHOP Holdings Limited, Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited and SOCAM Development Limited were invited to share their practical experience in applying “CSR” to manpower training and development strategies.

Professor Dennis FAN highlighted in his opening address that CSR was conducive not only to corporate brand building, but also for sustainable development.


Mr. Chris CHAN shared the experience of BannerSHOP in recruiting the under-privileged groups and building an integrated culture, and the benefits to expanding recruitment channels.


Ms. Ivy LAU introduced the HKBN’s “Knowledge Volunteer” services and how it helps develop multiple potential of staff, and her experience in soliciting management support.


Mr. Raymond KO shared the case of SOCAM in launching CSR strategies to enhance staff cohesiveness and the success factors in motivating staff participation.

The ERB will continue to organise various activities under the “ERB Manpower Developer Award Scheme” in order to actively cultivate a common corporate value to attach great importance to manpower training and development.
