On the occasion, over a hundred awards were presented to ERB trainees and partners from various sectors in recognition of their initiatives and achievements in skills upgrading and talent development for different professions.  Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare Mr Ho Kai-ming and ERB Chairman Mr Yu Pang-chun congratulated all awardees and commended their unfailing efforts in pursuing upskilling and lifelong learning.  To cater for evolving skills needs, ERB is currently conducting a strategic review on its service scope, training strategies and operational mode with the objective of further boosting human capital in support of the economic development of Hong Kong.

More than 40 employers, around 30 training bodies as well as some 50 outstanding instructors and trainees were conferred awards at the ceremony.  This year 15 trainees were awarded the “ERB Outstanding Award for Trainees” and another 15 received the “ERB Merit Award for Trainees”.  Among them were a young mother who strived to upskill and devoted herself to care-related support work while taking care of her kid alone; a middle-aged woman who reached her full potential through professional skills training and became a Commis in an airport lounge; a misplaced ex-DSE graduate who rekindled his interest in studying and embarked on a new path in the electrical and mechanical industry as a working student; as well as an aspiring youth who was committed to serving in the healthcare sector and providing holistic care to the elderly.  All the awardees have demonstrated their passion for learning and reshaped their lives through the power of knowledge and skills.  Their shining performance in different professions exemplifies the true merits and meaning of skills training.

For the employer awards, enterprises from different industries were acknowledged for their unswerving support to the work of ERB, including offering employment, on-the-job training and career development opportunities to ERB graduate trainees, as well as supporting the services and training programmes of ERB.  Besides, the contributions of training bodies and instructors in supporting ERB to empower trainees through upskilling and fulfill its societal role in vocational training were also recognised.
