“Employer Sharing Session on Recruiting the Ethnic Minorities” - Event Highlights

The ERB organised an “Employer Sharing Session on Recruiting the Ethnic Minorities” on 22 March 2016. Around 50 representatives from employer organisations and training bodies participated in the event.

During the sharing session, the ERB representative introduced the ERB training and employment services offered to the ethnic minorities and announced the findings of “Topical Survey on Recruiting the Ethnic Minorities”. Ms. Carrie TSE, Human Resources and Administration Director of Pizza Hut Hong Kong Management Limited, shared her valuable experience in recruiting and retaining the ethnic minority staff. Ms. Peggy LAU, Project Officer of Hong Kong Unison, introduced the employment status and challenges of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong and practical ways for employers to facilitate integration of the ethnic minority staff into the workplace. In addition, guest speakers arranged two ethnic minority representatives to share their personal experience in job search and work experience, they also interacted with the participants.

Case discussion session was also arranged at the latter part of the event. Participants were divided into groups and discussed their considerations and measures of recruiting the ethnic minorities from various backgrounds.
