Objectives

New arrivals (mainly women) and mature persons generally prefer jobs with flexible working hours. To address their needs, the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) launched the “Smart Starter” pilot scheme to establish a referral platform for part-time jobs. Two “Smart Starter” referral centres were set up respectively in Kowloon East and Kowloon West, providing one-stop registration, referral and follow-up services as well as a host of support measures including thematic workshops and mutual support groups for new arrivals and mature persons aged 50 or above who completed ERB courses or designated workshops of “Smart Starter”.
