The Employees Retraining Board (ERB) held the ERB Annual Award Presentation Ceremony 2024-25 at the Academic Community Hall of the Hong Kong Baptist University today (18 March 2025). Mr Chris Sun Yuk-han, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Ms Alice Lau Yim, JP, Permanent Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Ms May Chan Wing-shiu, JP, Commissioner for Labour, Mr Yu Pang-chun, GBS, JP, Chairman of ERB, Professor Simon Wong Kit-lung, BBS, JP, Vice-chairman of ERB and Mr Byron Ng Kwok-keung, BBS, Executive Director of ERB officiated at the ceremony. Over a hundred awards were presented to recognise the commitment of ERB trainees to lifelong learning and self-enhancement and the collaborative efforts of partners from various sectors in advancing “skills-based” training and nurturing talent for society.
The annual awards were presented to industry employers, training bodies and ERB instructors in support of ERB’s training work, as well as to outstanding trainees who excelled in their personal and career development. This year, 20 trainees were presented with the “ERB Outstanding Award for Trainees” and the “ERB Merit Award for Trainees”, with 10 recipients for each category. Among them was a graduate who overcame the adversity of unemployment in his mid-career journey and embarked on a new path as an electrical technician trainee through skills training; an educator who committed herself to serving the society by establishing a social enterprise and supporting the underprivileged to participate in physical fitness training; as well as an aspiring youth who followed her mother's footsteps and joined the healthcare sector through vocational training, progressing towards her passion-led journey to become a professional nurse.
On the occasion, 44 enterprises were acknowledged for their unwavering support of ERB’s training endeavours and initiatives, offering employment and career development opportunities to ERB graduate trainees. Besides, 27 training bodies and 15 instructors were also commended for collaborating with ERB on training course development attuned to training needs and for nurturing talent, supporting the public in upskilling and lifelong learning.
