Access to Information

The Employees Retraining Board (ERB) has designated Manager (Customer Services) as the Access to Information Officer who is responsible for ensuring that requests for access to information under Government's Code on Access to Information (“the Code”) are properly dealt with in accordance with the specified procedures.

Information Published or Made Available Routinely

The following information is available at the website:

  • Information on ERB, including its management structure, functions and membership of Committees and Industry Consultative Networks, Technical Advisors, Code on Access to Information, ERB Personal Data Privacy Policy and Policy on Equal Opportunities
  • Training Bodies appointed by ERB and the training courses provided
  • Services for employers, including job referral service and “Tailor-made Programme” for employers
  • ERB's service schemes, including “Smart Living” and “Smart Baby Care”
  • “ERB Service Centre”, “ERB Service Spots” and “Practical Skills Training and Assessment Centre” set up by ERB
  • Annual reports, other publications, leaflets and videos
  • List of ERB's information published or made available to the public

Disclosure Log

The disclosure log provides summary descriptions of the nature of information requested and released under the Code by ERB.

The disclosure log will be updated on a quarterly basis. If any member of the public wishes to obtain any information listed in the disclosure log, an information request should be made to our Access to Information Officer. Such requests will be handled in accordance with the Code.

Procedures and Charges

Requests for information held by ERB but not published or made available routinely may be made verbally by calling the ERB Hotline at (852) 182 182, by letter, by email or by filling in the application form obtainable from the ERB Head Office. Application by email is also acceptable. Please send the completed application form to ERB through erbhk@erb.org.

Information available at the website can be downloaded free of charge (but please note the restrictions on re-dissemination or reproduction of such information as set out in the Copyright at the website). ERB can help provide black and white printouts of information at the website at a charge of HK$1.00 per page of A3 or A4 size.

Other than publications which are available free of charge, or at the cost specified, the following photocopying charge will be levied:

Photocopying black and white on A3 or A4 size paper (single-sided or double-sided) - HK$1.00 per photocopy

Target Response Time

Where possible, information will be made available within 10 calendar days of receipt of a written request. If that is not possible, the requestor will be so advised by an interim reply within 10 calendar days of receipt of the request. The target response time will then be 21 calendar days from receipt of the request.

If a request is to be refused, the requestor will be so informed within the timeframe set out above.

Response may be deferred beyond 21 calendar days in exceptional circumstances, which should be explained to the requestor.

These targets may be extended if necessary to accommodate the third party procedures set out in the Code, or where the requestor fails to pay any charges levied.
